Time Flies When You're Having Fun

posted Tuesday, 28 February 2006

I have no time today at work, but I would be remiss if I did not address the fact that one year ago tonight, my girlfriend Lauren and I went out on our first date. We saw the Will Smith vehicle Hitch. I did not kiss her that night. I have kissed her since.

So many memories come to mind:

the first night we made love....

the day I met her parents.....

that time she killed that homeless person and we buried him in Central Park....

holding hands in the rain.....A lot of good times.

I don't want to make this into something corny, so I'm just going to close by posting the lyrics to Shania Twain's "Still The One."

"Looks like we made it...."

Alright, fuck that. I will put this to you, we just realized that we do not have "A Song." Maybe this is more of a high school thing, couples having "Their Song." But does anyone have any suggestions?

I was thinking "Whatta Man" by Salt N Pepa. I have a feeling she was not. Any ideas?

Our song is "My Sharona." Don't ask me why.

I've been loving the new Jenny Lewis album, and I think a great couple song would be "Handle With Care." Keep it mind that if I ever get a girlfriend, I may need this song back. What? Are you expecting me to make some joke about how I'll probably never get a girlfriend again? Fuck you.

Definitely consider "My Neck, my back" by Khia. hahaha. Just kidding, my boy and I like singing it. The video is just too funny. Khia in rollers and a bathrobe singing about how she wants her crack licked while shes doing her toes on a lawn chair. Really weird.

Pat, knowing how many points you probably scored when you got Kelly Clarkson to sign some stuff for Lauren ... maybe "Behind These Hazel Eyes" or something else from Clarkson's oeuvre.

Pat,

Isn't it obvious. Nickelback's opus, "Figured You Out" should be your song.

Just consider these beautiful lyrics:

I like your pants around your feet And I like the dirt that's on your knees And I like the way you say please While you're looking up at me You're like my favorite damn disease

Brings a fuckin' tear to my eye.

I have to say, when I think of you and Lauren I think of many fun nights dancing to 80s music at Joshua Tree. Therefore, I nominate "Love is a Battlefield" by Pat Benetar.
