Q & A Podcast, Part 2

posted Wednesday, 3 January 2007

I had a Trainspotting-style New Year's Eve, and my brain is fried. So like a hung over teacher playing a video in lieu of teaching, it's time to throw up some more Podcast! This is the continuation (but not conclusion) of the famed "Last Podcast" or "PodLast," if you will. We cover topics ranging from public displays of affection to politics to body image to immigration to time travel to, of course, sex.

And remember, this was recorded on May 7, 2006, so excuse the dated references to bell bottomed jeans and disco dancing.

Enjoy!

Great podcast. I liked the James Brown tribute at the beginning and end -- very timely -- but I was wondering where that Cherry Chapstick song you usually play at the end of the podcasts comes from.

Dude Jackson that is a song by the venerable and too-short-lived rock quartet the PTA, with none other than our beloved Patrick himself on vocals (and principal songwriting detail I think? Don't hold me to that, though)!

Oh man, I would just like to back that up, PTA was one of the sweetest local bands I've seen. No matter how small the stage, you guys brought the energy like you were fuckin' Queen. I've still got my CD...

Holy balls. That's really funny, I was always trying to find that song on iTunes. I always thought it was the Scissor Sisters or something. Well, awesome then.

Just so we're clear here, I'm being compared to not one, but TWO gay men?!

Heh. No offense, man... like I said, I dig the tune. But even you've got to admit that little twang you put on "Hell yeah!" was gayer than eight guys blowing nine guys.

Touche. Or tush-ay. We were always a bit theatrical, but the accent you heard was my actual twang that years on the Mean Streets of New York forced out of me.

Anyway, this talk of my old band has inspired me. I think next week I'll be busting out a multi-part "Behind The Music" on The PTA, complete with podcasts featuring some of our songs.

I'm sure we'll be compared not just to Queen and Scissor Sisters, but Elton John, George Michael, Pet Shop Boys, and Rufus Wainwright.

Sweet. Yeah, post some mp3s, if your server will allow it.

Speaking of posted mp3s, I'm sure you guys all heard about this weeks ago in L.A., but I just now heard that they canceled The OC. Somebody might want to trot down to Sonny's place and wrestle the gun away from him.

Also, glad you liked the James Brown. I figured it was either that or Gerald Ford beatboxing.
